Did you know there are brushing habits that do more harm than good? Well, it’s true. Our dentist encourages you to avoid those habits as much as possible so you can maintain a strong and healthy smile. To help you do so, he is happy to tell you about the habits to stay away from. Those habits are:

-Brushing with a hard-bristled toothbrush: The hard bristles can wear down the tooth enamel and irritate the gums. If you use this type of brush, it can weaken the smile and make the gums recede.

-Brushing too hard: Brushing too hard can also wear down the teeth and bug the gums. It’s best to use light pressure when brushing. You don’t need to scrub vigorously to remove the bacteria, plaque and food particles from your teeth.

-Brushing too long: It’s important to only brush for two minutes each time. If you brush longer, it can do more harm than good by weakening the smile and making the gums recede from the base of the teeth.
