You deserve a healthy and attractive smile. Unfortunately, there are things in the world today that can stain and discolor your teeth, making your smile yellow and unattractive. Luckily, this can be avoided. To help you, Dr. Steven Rodriguez and our dental team have some helpful tips that can help you maintain a white and brilliant smile.

Our first tip is to avoid stain-causing foods and drinks. These things can be red wine, tea, coffee, and dark berries. If you decide to eat or drink these products, it’s best to drink them through a straw or brush your teeth after eating them.

Our second tip is to keep up on oral hygiene. Brushing, flossing, and rinsing can help you remove the stains regularly. As you do these things, use a soft-bristled toothbrush, floss, and antiseptic mouthwash. It’s also best to use whitening toothpaste once or twice a week. When you are not using whitening toothpaste, please use fluoride toothpaste.

Our third tip is to consider touch-up whitening treatments. Each whitening treatment is different, and depending on which one you used, you might need to lightly whiten your smile regularly to maintain bright teeth. Some treatments call for touch-ups every six months or after one or two years. You may need a touch-up more often if you smoke or consume a lot of stain-causing products.
