If you have a mouthguard, then you’re on the right track toward maintaining a top-notch smile while participating in high-contact sports and activities. While you protect your teeth with this handy appliance, it’s important to care for it so it can care for you. This means you need to clean and care for it regularly. Our dentist, Dr. Steven Rodriguez, would like to help you do so by giving you the tips you need.

-Replace your mouthguard when it starts getting worn down.

-Keep your mouthguard clean and dry between your games and matches.

-After each use, rinse the mouthguard thoroughly with water. Or, you can scrub it with a toothbrush and toothpaste.

-Clean your mouthguard regularly by scrubbing it with cold, soapy water and then rinsing it.

-When you come to our office for your checkups, bring your mouthguard. During your appointment, our team can evaluate the fit and even clean it if necessary.

-Keep your mouthguard in its case provided when it’s not in your mouth.

-Don’t leave your mouthguard in a hot place, like in your car or next to a heater.

-Keep your mouthguard away from the family pet.
