Dental injuries are always a little scary. However, there is no need to worry. With the advanced dental technology these days, there are many treatments available that can help you restore your tooth or at least restore your smile. So, please stay calm. Everything will be OK. After you call Healthy Smiles Dental Care® of Flint at 810-720-6433 and explain the situation, it’s best to follow our instructions so you can have the best results possible. For a knocked-out tooth, Dr. Steven Rodriguez recommends doing the following things:

First, find the tooth and keep it in a safe place. When you pick it up, do not grab it by the root. You need to pick it up by the crown, which is the white part that was visible when the tooth was in your smile. Then, you can rinse the tooth in a bowl of tap water if it’s dirty. Whatever you do, do not scrub it.

Second, rinse your mouth with warm water. To stop the bleeding, put a gauze pad or a moistened tea bag to the area. When your mouth is clear, try to put the tooth back into place. Make sure to put it back in the correct position.

Third, if you can’t put the tooth back into the gum socket, then put it between your gums and cheek, in a small cup of milk or saliva, or in a tooth-saving kit. These things can help you keep the tooth alive until you see your dentist. This is important because the tooth needs to be alive when it is implanted back into place.
